Yahoo! Search Marketing Ambassador Qualified

Quick burb, less then 2 hours ago I passed the test to become a Yahoo! Search Marketing Ambassador. Yes is a good time to buy stock in The Tinman right now, because it’s definitely going up. Time to update the bio and resumes again, Just joking. I am very happy though. I now hold certifications in both engines Google and Yahoo. The test was like 60 questions and they give you an hour and half to complete it which is plenty of time. I flew through the questions with no problem but that’s because I deal with Yahoo on a daily basis so I’m incredibly familiar with their system.
Now listen from time to time I get into debates with people about certification and if they are important when finding employment. Back in the day I was the guy who sat in the back of room screaming “certification ain’t crap, if you can’t do the work”. I still kind a believe that. But now what I have learned is that in the corporate world the job description for the position you may be interviewing for is usually handed or emailed to the HR manager who knows nothing about the position but besides it needs to be filled. So basically the HR manager going off of what was passed along to he/she by the department head who knows exactly what he or she is looking for (hope I didn’t confuse you). But the only problem is you need to get past the HR manager to get to the department head. Because surly if only the department head could see what your capable of doing you would have the position with now problem. So a lot of times if you don’t have A,B,C listed on your resume you will never get the call. And it doesn’t matter how good you can code or how well you can optimize a site
Bottom line I’m not saying that you can’t find employment without certifications but it sure wont hurt to have one or two on your resume.
