Yahoo, Google, or Palm

G-wiz,
It’s been a while since I made a post. A matter of fast since my last post I‘ve been on vacation, then off vacation, and then back on vacation. I had a couple of days that I needed to use before the end of the month.
There’s like a millions things I could bring up for discussion. Yahoo’s beefing up their click fraud detection, Google’s Pay-Per-Action program, or Palm’s potential merger or sale rumor. Let’s talk about Palm (since I own a couple shares) and the cell phone market. One thing I notice about smart phone users is that they are loyal. I mean Treo users stand by their Treo’s and Black Berry users live and breathe Black Berry. I’ve never heard a Treo user say “I’m thinking about getting that New Black Berry”, or vice versa. So in my opinion I don’t see Palm selling or merging with Nokia, Motorola or whoever. Their fan base is too die hard, plus their move in hiring a former apple engineer tells me they are planning something incredible. For instance, the IPhone the GUI I admit looks kick ass, and if Palm could adopt a slick interface that’s similar to the IPhone, it would be over.

Understand smart phone users usually own these phones to handle particular business tasks, Black Berry works great with email and the Treo is the perfect PDA device. Decisions to purchase these phones are not merely on looks, but how they handle tasks. I think the IPhone is going to be a WOW phone for a short period of time. It has the potential to catch the attention of the younger crowd, the early adopters. This is usually the crowd that finds it important to own the newest or coolest that hits the market. The only problem is that the price point may be kind of high for this particular crowd, and since this will be Apple’s first cell phone I don’t think the working/business crowd who normally has the money or the need for a good PDA cell phone will leave their trusty Treo or Black Berry.

I’m not a Apple hater, (I also own a couple shares of Apple) I think Apple is a great company, with incredible vision.
I find The IPhone revolutionary, I just don’t think It will replace my Treo yet.
